Kolbenschmidt Engine Main Bearings - Sputtered main bearing shells are used in the engine areas subject to the highest stresses. The mating shells are proven three-material composite bearings. For the main bearing, the lower half is sputtered. The correct installation position of the sputtered main bearing shell is a prerequisite for satisfactory operation.
