Why do I see two charges on my credit card? - Back to Top

It is illegal in the US to charge a customer for a product before it is shipped. So in our case we actually just reserve the credit card for the purchase amount and then charge the card for the purchase price at the time of shipping! So there may be in some cases depending on the bank a reserve and a purchase showing on the same day. Be assured the reserve will drop off in 24 hours and the funds will be made available back into your account at that time. Please call our customer service department is you see any discrepancies on your credit card statement.

Why does it take so long to get a credit? - Back to Top

Before can issue a credit for a core, exchange, or a warranty item, it must go back to the manufacturer to get approved for the credit. Once Drivewire received the credit from the manufacturer we will at that time credit your account.

What are OEM parts? - Back to Top

OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer.  This refers to a part that is made by the same manufacturer as the part you would receive from you local automotive dealer. Unlike us auto manufacturers, import carmakers do not manufacture and produce the parts they use to build their vehicles. Import carmakers use outside independent companies like; Bosch, NGK, and KYB for example, to provide the parts used in your vehicle. Carmakers then put these parts in their own boxes and sell then to you as original. Drivewire is able to bypass the dealer purchasing from a direct supplier of the original part manufacturer, providing the same part to you that the dealer sells, however they come packaged in a box with the name of the actual manufacturer of the part. It’s not an inferior part it’s just put into a different package and sold to you much cheaper than the dealer sells it for.

What are OES parts? - Back to Top

OES stands for Original Equipment Supplier.  This refers to the part that is provided to us by the actual vehicle manufacturer. So when you see a part that has OES in the description, or we refer to a part as OES this part actually came from the vehicle manufacturer and in most cases will come in the vehicle manufacturers packaging and is the genuine product. On our web site we are not allowed to indicate the item as “genuine”, so for the items that are genuine factory parts you may see the item listed as OES or in some cases you may not even see OES due to licensing issues. So if there is any confusion as to whether an item listed on our site is genuine, please call our customer support staff as they can determine if the item is in fact genuine.

What is an aftermarket part? - Back to Top

An aftermarket part is a part that is made from a supplier that does not provide an original part to the vehicle manufacturer. These parts are produced by companies other than the original manufacturer but are made to fit and perform as well as the original. Aftermarket parts companies are licensed to reproduce these parts and sell them to wholesale parts distributors. The aftermarket parts we sell meet or exceed the manufactures level of quality and will not in most cases void the vehicle warranty. You may indeed see a small difference from the original part look, however be assured the part is as good as or better than the original part supplied by the dealer at a much lower price.
