Acura Integra GSR and Type-R Replacement and Racing Parts:
The Acura Type-R and GSR are very easy to customize and install bolt on performance items from mild to full racing depending on your budget.
Bolt-On’s – The Bolt On’s include Intake items such as a Cold Air intake; Adjustable Cam Gears, Cat back Exhaust, Headers, and Coil over’s and Lowering Springs. The Type R and GSR are well engineered and selecting products for an upgrade needs to be fully thought out well in advance.
Intake – The best way to go is an Injen Race Division Intake or an AEM Cold Air Intake as they have been fully tested and the HP increases are well documented. The less expensive intakes can actually cost you HP and torque, so be sure to do your homework.
Cat Back Exhaust – The Cat back Exhaust on the GSR and Type R are very well tuned and it is more likely the change in an exhaust the desired change in exhaust note. The most common diameter seems to be Injen SES 60mm (2.35") Exhaust.
Header – Replacing the Header appears to be one of the opportunities for the largest power gains in the Integra. The most popular header designs are the 4 into 1, and the 4 into 2 into 1. The 4-2-1 design produces the highest torque for mid range power and the 4-1 will produce the highest HP at the upper RPM range. To get the highest possible HP out of the Integra exhaust, you will need to install a high flow cat.
Engine Management – One of the easiest and get the most out of your mods, is to install an AEM Engine Management system with a EUGO Controller. This will allow you to fine tune your Integra and adjust the wide band O2 (lambda) meter and set a
ir/fuel ratio. The AEM EMS, will allow for VTEC engagement adjustment which is needed.
Lightweight Flywheels and Clutch – The lightweight aluminum flywheel will provide faster acceleration. Excedy and ACT both make a 4 and 6 puck racing clucth along with a HD model that will bolt on the the stock flywheel.
Suspension – The best way to get your Integra to handle to its optimum is with a Coilover kit by Eibach or B&G. The other option is a suspension kit or a lowering kit by the above mentioned
