The internal type of a Audi TT alternator regulator is located within the alternator and in some cases is replaceable. To replace the Audi TT regulator you must remove the power form the battery. The preferred way is to just remove the ground or negative battery cable prior to servicing the Audi TT alternator or regulator. If the regulator is internal and is not removable, then the entire Audi TT alternator assembly will need to be replaced.
