The internal type of a BMW 330 alternator regulator is located within the alternator and in some cases is replaceable. To replace the BMW 330 regulator you must remove the power form the battery. The preferred way is to just remove the ground or negative battery cable prior to servicing the BMW 330 alternator or regulator. If the regulator is internal and is not removable, then the entire BMW 330 alternator assembly will need to be replaced.
