The BMW 525 steering idler arm is the arm that is at the opposite side of the center link from the steering box. When the BMW 525 Idler arm wears out, the steering will seem loose, and you will get very uneven tire wear on the right hand front tire. It is always a good idea to replace the BMW 525 center link and the tie rods at the same time, as you will need to have the BMW 525 aligned when you have replaced the steering parts.

The BMW 525 Steering Gear, or the Steering box is located at the end of the steering shaft and has a worm type gear that allows the input of the steering wheel to turn the front wheels. Most BMW 525 steering boxes have power assist that is driven by the power steering pump. Most BMW 525 steering boxes fail due to inadequate lubrication, so make sure you have plenty of power steering fluid at all times.

Like any other hose, the BMW 525 power steering hose can eventually develop leaks and need replacement. If you check the BMW 525 Power steering hose and see small hairline cracks it would be a good time to replace the power steering hose.
