The internal type of a Honda Prelude alternator regulator is located within the alternator and in some cases is replaceable. To replace the Honda Prelude regulator you must remove the power form the battery. The preferred way is to just remove the ground or negative battery cable prior to servicing the Honda Prelude alternator or regulator. If the regulator is internal and is not removable, then the entire Honda Prelude alternator assembly will need to be replaced.
