The internal type of a Mercedes-Benz CL-Class alternator regulator is located within the alternator and in some cases is replaceable. To replace the Mercedes-Benz CL-Class regulator you must remove the power form the battery. The preferred way is to just remove the ground or negative battery cable prior to servicing the Mercedes-Benz CL-Class alternator or regulator. If the regulator is internal and is not removable, then the entire Mercedes-Benz CL-Class alternator assembly will need to be replaced.
