OE and Performance Throttle Body
The throttle body is a valve that controls how much air is let into the engine and is controlled by a throttle cable or electric motor. When you push on the gas pedal, you are pulling the throttle cable that opens up the throttle body, allowing more air to the engine. The more you press on the gas pedal the more the throttle body opens up and the faster you go. Located on most throttle bodies are idle air control motors that regulate how fast your motor idles when no throttle is being applied. Some of these are built into the throttle body so if they fail the whole throttle body will need to be replaced.

Other reasons to replace a throttle body would be that some have the throttle position sensor cast into them and cannot be replaced on their own or if your throttle body were to develop a bad seal between the throttle blade and the body itself. The throttle cable is also a part of most throttle bodies. Over time it may stretch or corrode leading to eventual breakage. If the throttle cable were to break you would rapidly come to a stop. Drivewire has both OEM and genuine throttle body and throttle cables. We also offer performance, oversized throttle bodies for higher horsepower applications from Edelbrock, BBK, Skunk 2 and more.
