For most of us, that one stop at the local car wash spells disaster for our power antenna mast. Most people do not know that the antenna mast is replaceable without replacing the entire motor.
To remove the mast, simply removes the outer gland nut that is at the base of the mast, then turn on the radio, and the mast cable will extract itself.
To install the new antenna, push the new nylon cable down thru the antenna assembly hole until it stops. Then go into the car and turn the radio off. You will hear the antenna motor and you should see the antenna recoil into the motor. Once the motor has stopped, put the metal part of the antenna mast into the motor assembly and reinstall the land nut on the top of the antenna.
