Power Window Motors
A window motor is used to operate the power windows in cars and trucks. The window motor is located in the door and is usually attached to the window regulator. window motors usually go bad due to condensation getting into the door and rusting the electrical contacts in the motor. Once you remove the door panel make sure that the door barrier plastic is still in good shape. If the door barrier is torn or missing, you will need to make sure to replace it after you replace the electric window motor.
When ordering the window motor, make sure you order the correct motor, as they are different form side to side! The drivers door on US made cars will have the left window motor, and the passenger side will have the right window motor. There are several styles of window motor switches. Some have an auto down feature where the window motor will go down automatically when the switch is pressed for a second.
The other types of window motor switches have a built in lighting system to provide illumination at night. A window switch can go bad as the electric contact points wear out or become rusted. Drivewire.com carries the front, rear, right and left electric window motors in both power and manual versions at discount prices. We also have a large selection of window switches for most cars, trucks and vans at discounted prices.
