Brake Master Cylinder
The brake master cylinder is attached to the brake booster and is allows the driver to apply pressure thru the master cylinder to the braking hydraulic system. The brake master cylinder will have a plastic brake fluid reservoir attached to the top of the unit.
Make sure that you have the brake fluid completely flushed every year, as this will make your brake master cylinder last for years with no trouble. If you need to replace the master cylinder due to internal or external leakage, you can count on Drivewire to provide you with new genuine or the highest quality aftermarket master cylinders at discount prices.
You should always take your car to a qualified mechanic to have the brake system worked on! In order to change the master cylinder, you will need to have a brake pressure bleeder and line wrenches to change the master cylinder.
Todays cars come equipped with brake master cylinders that have dual cylinders, primary and secondary. This is designed to prevent catastrophic brake failure. However it is our experience this does little to avoid a major accident if the master cylinder fails
