OEM and Performance Clutch Disc
The clutch disc is really the weak link in the drivetrain, and the manufacturer has made it that way on purpose. Better a clutch disc fail than an engine or a transmission. The clutch disc usually wears out due to slipping or engagement of the disc and under normal driving, a disc can last well over 100,000 miles. For those who like to drive a bit more aggressive, the clutch disc life span will diminish by up to 90%.
When replacing the clutch disc we reccomend taking a minute and deciding what type of disc will work best for your driving style. A number of clutch manufacturers have developed clutch discs that are designed for differnt driving styles, for example, you can purchase a stock, sport, dual disc set, or a 4 and 6 puck racing disc. You do need to do your homework before deciding the best disc for your needs. Remember the pressure plate also needs to be matched to the disc based on performance.
