Radiator Cooling Fan Assembly
The cooling fan, or sometimes called the radiator fan, can be located on either side of the radiator and may either be operated by an electric motor or a fan clutch that is driven by the water pump belt. If you notice that your car or truck begins to overheat in traffic you may need a cooling fan switch or a cooling fan clutch. The cooling fan switch is a thermostatically controlled electrical switch that is usually located in the radiator or in the thermostat housing and will turn on the radiator fan when the coolant reaches a predetermined temperature.
The fan clutch or radiator fan clutch uses the engine temperature to engage or disengage the radiator fan and is located on the front of the water pump. You can usually hear the auxiliary cooling fan come on when you turn the ac on as well, so if you are in doubt as to whether the radiator fan is working or not, simply turn on the air conditioning while the car is running, you should hear the auxiliary cooling fan come on. Drivewire has oem, genuine, hella, bosch, febi and meyle cooling fan switches, clutches and fan blades. We also have the plastic fan shroud and clips that you may need if you crack the plastic fan shroud.
