Engine Oil Pumps
The oil pump is located in the oil pan, at the bottom of the engine and is used to pump the oil thru the engine. Generally the oil pump will spin at engine speed so that the faster the engine spins the more volume of oil flows through the oil pump and the higher the oil pressure. As the oil pump gets older and older the space between the oil pump gear and the oil pump housing gets larger diminishing the volume of oil passed through the engine and reducing oil pressure. Typically, the oil pump is replaced when rebuilding an engine as a safety measure as they rarely have problems.

Neglecting to do oil changes will hurt the lifespan of an oil pump, as debris building up in the engine oil will slowly eat away at the oil pump. Replacing a oil pump is a pretty laborious job and will take many hours to replace, even under great conditions. For replacement oil pumps we offer genuine, OEM with some aftermarket oil pumps. If you plan on serious racing some companies make special oil pump gears designed for high RPM operation for use with high flow oil pumps. If you have any questions about oil pumps you can always give us a call.
