Piston Sets Information

    Engine Piston Sets
    The pistons are responsible for the transfer of power to the crankshaft. Pistons can become scored or damaged due to detonation and may need to be replaced if the piston fails by allowing combustion gasses to pass by the piston rings. The piston ring is a ring that fits into a groove on the piston. Its purpose is to form a seal between the piston and cylinder wall.

    For performance applications you may want to use a performance piston and rings to increase compression and horsepower. One of the best ways to increase performance is to add a little compression to the engine by adding domed pistons and performance piston rings.
