OE & Performance Mufflers
The muffler is located in the exhaust system and is used to remove the exhaust noise from the engine. Most cars and trucks only require one muffler, however later model cars and trucks use multiple mufflers and can number up to six on exotic cars. On late model cars and trucks the rear muffler and center muffler is an integrated part of the exhaust system and cannot be changed as a single unit.

These types of integrated rear and center mufflers can be very expensive, and purchasing these OE style mufflers from Drivewire can save you hundreds of dollars. Signs of needing a new rear muffler would include a noisier exhaust, rattling, or clunking. We offer both OEM such as Eberspaecher and many aftermarket mufflers and exhausts from the likes of Injen, DC Sports, Magnaflow, Flowmaster, Borla, Dynomax, Pacesetter and more. We have both mufflers only and whole replacement exhaust sections including the center muffler, rear muffler and pipe sections as well as aftermarket cat-back exhausts.

Today there are very many mufflers to choose from. We have quiet, stock mufflers up to very loud racing mufflers with everything in between. Typically louder rear mufflers will yield more power because they are leaning to horsepower output over quiet. They will have a straight path through the muffler rather than a series of U-turns and bends inside. Some rear mufflers will use fiberglass or steel wool for sound deadening while some will use sound canceling techniques where they bounce exhaust pulses off each other. Our new OE mufflers will bolt up like the factory muffler, while other aftermarket mufflers will need to be welded or clamped into place for a proper fit. For the weld up mufflers its best to do this at a qualified muffler shop to avoid damaging other parts of the car with the welder.
