Fuel Level Sending Unit
The fuel level sending unit is an electrical rheostat that is mounted either as a part of the fuel pump assembly or as an independent unit. When replacing the fuel tank sending unit you will want to make sure to replace the gasket and O-rings. On most vehicles the sending unit is an integral part of the fuel pump assembly and must be replaces as a complete unit when replacing the sending unit with an OEM replacement. There are aftermarket manufacturers that produce kits to replace the fuel level sending units with out replacing the entire pump assembly. We do carry these types of kits; however they do require the proper tools and mechanical expertise.
