Power Steering Hose
The power steering hose takes the pressurized power steering fluid into the steering rack where it is used to amplify the force of you turning the steering wheel. This is how you have a light steering wheel feel even in large trucks. Like any other hose, the PS hose can eventually develop leaks and need replacement. If you check the Power steering hose and see small hairline cracks it would be a good time to replace the power steering hose. Another place where a PS hose could develop leaks would be where the ends are fitted.
Over time the fittings on the end of the power steering hose could develop leaks. If you do end up with a leaky power steering hose it is best to replace it immediately. Power steering fluid with a stop leak is only a bandage for the problem and will not work long. Also the additives that stop the power steering leak are not good for the power steering pump and could lead to premature failure Depending on how the PS hose is routed; it may be a simple job to do. If the routing is difficult it is a job best left to a mechanic. DriveWire has genuine and OE Power steering hoses in stock ready for immediate delivery.
